MRI Neuroquant

What is an MRI Neuroquant?

NeuroQuant is a non-invasive MRI scan used to diagnose early Alzheimer’s disease along with other neurodegenerative disorders.  A NeuroQuant scan is an additional set on images that is acquired along with a routine MRI brain scan. This volumetric MRI measures areas of the brain known to deteriorate in Alzheimer’s patients and those with other neurodegenerative disorders.

The NeuroQuant software aids the patient’s physician with a quantitive measurement on the brain. These measurements are then used to compare possible deteriorated area of the brain to those that are normal. Also these measurements are compared to peers of the same age.

Not only can you use this study for early stage Alzheimer’s and dementia, but also for monitoring the disease over time.

Prep:

NeuroQuant imaging requires no special prep, uses no radiation unlike other imaging studies and requires no IV.

What to expect:

Expectations are the same as in a routine MRI.
